When and where: The 2014 Rainbow of Heroes Walk will be Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Duke Center for Living, Durham, North Carolina, rain or shine. There is no admission charge.
We have arranged for a special rate at our host hotel:

Rooms have been reserved for the Friday night before the Walk at a rate of $79/night. Book your reservation by April 15, 2014 - space is limited! Be sure to mention you are with the Rainbow of Heroes when you call to make your reservation. Participants are responsible for arranging own lodging.
We are also excited this year to be hosting a Bone Marrow Drive during the Walk. This drive is being sponsored by the Hendrick Marrow Program. All attendees who are not already a part of the National Marrow Donor Registry are encouraged to participate in the drive.
Before the Walk
Fundraising: Teams are an important part of the Walk, and we are tremendously grateful to the teams that have helped raise money in past years. Teams and others can send funds to us before the Walk (or bring them to the registration tent at the Walk).
Wall of Honor: Many families bring photos, stories, or other materials to put on our Wall of Honor honoring patients and their families.

At the Walk
Please register: A friendly volunteer will give you a Walk program (listing all activities and a schedule) and direct you to the registration tent. It is important that everyone registers, and it only takes a couple of minutes. This is also where money is turned in and t-shirt "tickets" are given out (tickets are exchanged for t-shirts at another tent).
Walk t-shirts: All Walk participants who raise $100 or more will receive a commemorative 2014 Rainbow of Heroes Walk t-shirt, which includes the names of patients transplanted between April 1, 2013 and March 31, 2014. T-shirts will also be available for purchase at the Walk.
Food: A full lunch is provided for all participants.
Silent Auction and Raffle: We will have a silent auction with various donated items from friends, families, and supporters of PBMT. Please come to the Walk ready to bid on these unique items. We will also have a raffle for the 2014 Patient Quilt. Silent Auction items and pre Walk bidding opportunities can be found here.
Bathroom Alert: We will have Port-A-Potties available for everyone's use because we cannot use the bathrooms in the Duke Center for Living building. We are grateful for the use of their track, but they need to reserve the building facilities for their own programs.
Pets: Only certified service dogs are allowed on the Duke Center for Living track.
If you can't attend the Walk
Even those not attending the Walk can send materials to be displayed on our Wall of Honor.
Generally, limited quanitites of Walk t-shirts are available after Walk. If you can't attend the Walk but would like a t-shirt, please contact us following the Walk . T-shirt requests cannot be accepted before then -- we are extremely busy planning the Walk!
